MTV News is the groundbreaking news division of the cable channel MTV, featuring youth-focused coverage, pop culture reporting, and political town halls. The editorial team had historically focused on the on air broadcast and digital content, and in 2016 introduced their new podcasts series. The MTV News website needed an update to include a way to discover these new podcasts.

I worked on creating a podcast hub page, providing a central location for them to live. This page helped improve the ability to discover new Podcast content, grow subscriber audiences, and to have a dynamic way to include podcast content on the site that does not rely on articles being created with sound for each episode.

The hub aims to showcase the breadth of shows produced by MTV and allows users to subscribe to each series. New content is automatically ingested into MTV News podcast hub page and latest content is surfaced to the top, displaying the podcasts series in chronological order. Creating a main hub for the podcasts series promoted awareness and in turn drove subscriptions and additional revenue via Panoply, brand play by virtue of industry and editorial credibility, and took advantage of the serial nature of podcasts to drive loyalty.

Each podcast has a series page that allows users to learn more about the show, subscribe, and play episodes. Within each series page, the user can click on a podcast episode to go to a page that focuses on individual episode content that surfaces episode audio and description. Podcast episode pages are now accessible via cards that live among other MTV News content on the News homepage and under articles. This will aid the ability to discover this content on-site while allowing specific episodes to be promoted.
